This is our Christmas calendar! Our mom bought all these wonderful stuff from local minimarket. We were all there, but mom managed to buy all this without us noticing a thing!

Yes that is pretty true, but lots of things have been happening. But I only got these five pictures, something is wrong with my computer... But from the start I won a raffle in Katjaliinin puuhat blog!! And look what I got! :)

Isn't it just beautiful! And handmade by Katja! (The pictures are in wrong order, but I guess that can't be helped)

These nice wooden frames got a big change when they got home with me from the flea market.

The new kitchen!

Here is the new kitchen and I am pretty fond of the furniture. So the furniture will stay but lets see if they soon going to be changed around... The table and bench are made by me and everything else has been bought. But the rug is made by my grandmother at will be changed to the one a bought from the Miniature fare.

Lemonade is ready to be served, but were are the folks to drink it?

I have thought a lot about what kind of wallpaper should I put in the kitchen, but I have still no clue about that!!! Well, I'll try to think about something... :)

Bathroom to bedroom and Bedroom to bathroom...

So, as you know from the title, I once again changed the rooms around... so this downstair room used to be the bathroom but now the furniture have been carried upstairs.So lets see how it goes!

Now the furniture has been put in but the walls and floor still need something, now what could that be..

And now upstairs, I really do like this better. The bathroom was too big downstairs and the bedroom was too little upstairs. And now this is perfect, at least for now...

This looks much better! Now only the floor needs to bee fixed. The 'tiles' were so hard to get of that I just covered it up with tissue paper. Jep you read right, tissue paper and ribbon. The night table is really Riikka's but I just had to try it. The rug is made by my grandmother.

Hey, did you notice that the upper wallpaper is the same that was used in the bathroom.

There has been other changes too, but more about that later...

Miniatures rooms

We had friends over from America who bought us this wonderful book!! On the way to Finland they stopped by Chicago and visited the Art Institute of Chicago. Each year thousands of visitors come to see the sixty-eight magnificent lighted boxes.

We went to the Lahti miniatures fair. And this is what we bought... ( look at the upper picture) To be miniature, we got mini bags too!! They are so cute! Well actually I bought this..(look down now...)

Tadaa, here is things that I bought... Well my wallet got really light after getting out of that place...

Well, here a bit closer to the things that I bought.

So these are the dishes that everyone has been talking about. They are Wooper's dishes. Aren't they so sweet! I just love it, they are like real ones!

And now for the food! Some spaghetti, rye bread, and chips!! Yummy! The spaghetti is made by Susanna, it looks so real!! I wish that I could have that spaghetti right now...mmmm....

Some bed sheets for Tom and Eliza with pillows, a very sweet rug, some nice cloth, and a very soft pillow. The rug is going in the kitchen and the pillow is going in the new parents bedroom. (more about that later...) I really like the prints on the bed sheets.

Now for the rest of the mini stuff I got: Hangers, note books, clocks, candles, wreath, sticks for Nordic walking. Susanna is the maker of the note books and she was so kind that she gave us prints of the notebook covers.

I really am proud that I found this bike. The peddles and the wheels really actually work!! Now Tom and Eliza can go with a bike to school!

Now my fingers are shaking... I can't really say anything else that I just love this!! I had been admiring this set from one blog and now I have got it!!!

Now heres a picture of the set in Riikka's Green Gable's garden. And of course Wooper's dishes and Susanna's yummy food.

Mmmm, mmmm.....

Oh, yeah I forgot to show what was in the mini bags. Well, here they are:

The Exciting England Trip!!

I had a wonderful time in England!! We went everywhere: Oxford, Longleat house and Safari Park, Bath, Cheddar Gorge, Warwick castle and Mme Tussaud's ... and so on... but I had lot's of fun! And of course when I had Susanna with me we found DOLLHOUSE SHOPS!! And with me being a shopping freak I bought lots of things..

And here you see my shoppings... Well, guess I'll just have to tell just what they are. I bought that huge sink for a kitchen (which I have been wanting for a long time..:), a bench for a garden and some bushes and flowers, a mirrow and two paintings, some tea sets, books, wine bottles, a street sign, and a cashier machine. (I am still talking about the first picture, sorry..)

But now about the second picture: These all are from Stratford. I found these from the back of the a souvenier shop, I was so happy to find that sink!!

These are from Bath, from Pulteney Bridge. (A fact: Pulteney Brigde is one of the four bridges in the world that has shops on it and one of the shops had miniatures in it!!)

These are from Cheddar Gorge. Aren't they just wonderful!!

This is just one nice picture that I took of the miniatures that I wanted to show you!

Outside changes!

I have been looking at the outside of the house and I'm not impressed, I haven't done anything for the outside!! But now I have painted the roof with antiquing paint that has to be diluted with water, it's supposed to make it look older and used but I think it's a nice color for the roof.

Here it shows better, the top shingles aren't painted but the rest are.

And now going down, the shingles are painted and I have made rocks from egg cartons (I have a link that has instructions how to make it but can't get it yet here), then I have painted the tiny poles beige, it looks very nice.

Rachel is standing happily on the porch but she is longing for some flowers and more... She is always wanting something! ;p

Yes, we went to the stores and found lots of goodies, colorful napkins (for wallpaper), paint, ribbons, garden chair, a box for keeping toys, flower pots, cernit (like fimo), bambu tablets (its going to be for a floor), hair for dolls, vine, a doll's head and hands (I am going to try and make a doll, let's see how it goes), some ornamets from Sinelli (a shop) and wood, its pretty soft that you can cut it with a mat knife, its called balsa.

Roomboxes

I have started on making some roomboxes. It's has been lots of fun because your only boundary is your imagination.

Here I have been doing a roombox which is very small, the match is the measure of it. I found a web page in that scale. I think it's in 1:144 scale. It's very weeny tiny and I have to make the tiny furniture too :) I am glad that I got the wallpaper in...

This is the back side it, and look at the little bricks!

Here is my other one, I bought it from Tiimari (Finnish store): it's like a little frame but it opens up into three different rooms. It's very cute!

Here are the wallpapers which will be going into the rooms. (For the biggest room I put blue wallpaper).

I haven't been keeping you updated but I have changed rooms around again.... Well, this time it was the dining- and livingroom that changed around, I just thought that the livingroom was too cramped, and a big family like them can't have anything too small! But when I had changed the furniture around I remembered that the wallpaper and furniture didn't match so I had to upholster them....

So here are the living room furniture before I started too work on them.

Rip, rip ( it was pretty easy ripping)..

I am so happy with the result!! It was very fun doing this project. :) I am just waiting to upholster the diningroom furniture!

And now a picture of them in there own atmosphere. I just love the colors!!

Now after all the long work we must relax and drink some coffee:)

Dolores!!

For those who do not know: Dolores is dollhouse company in the net, which sells wonderful things!!
I only had to wait the package for three days, awesome!

I ordered a doll to be a nanny and to work in the kitchen, you know sometimes mummys need rest......Then I ordered a post stamp book-,photo album set and some trim to go in Riikka's dollhouse's livingroom. They are just wonderful!!

I started right away to make the album and changed the instructions a bit...

See the yellow paper, that would have been the covers but I thought, no way! So I made a new one with different paper. It's really wallpaper.... Can you see those mini pictures? Aren't they just so cute! But cutting them out was an whole another thing.......

Here is the album almost finished. I really do like how it looks.
(I forgot to take pictures of it when it's ready..... Well maybe next time.) :)

Indiska!!

On Christmas vacation we went shopping. To Indiska and other shops too....

I bought a comfy armchair, a sofa table, and a glass cabinet. Mom and the cat came outside to pose with the new furniture.

Riikka has given me so many cute surprises over these days. Here she has made tiny Christmas cards. The bookmark she bought from a market.

Oh, these tiny dolls are just perfect for Eliza and Tom to play with! I am so happy for them!

I just love this necklace Riikka gave me the other day. I wear it everyday now!

This notebook is handmade and absolutely wonderful! Riikka bought this and the necklace from the Christmas market.

The pages of the notebook are made to look kind of olden. Look at the edges!!

This joyful flower was made just for me! ;)

Riikka decided to make me a 10-day Christmas surprise calendar. It started on the 14th day of December. On the first day I got this little knitting basket with cute yarns in it. The basket found its place right away in the living room.

On the next day, I got this very decorative thing where I can put some Fimo candles in. I am very excited to see what comes next!!!

The Doll and Teddybear Market

Today at ten a.m. we went the Doll and Teddy Bear Market. It was soooooo wonderful! Stall after stall it was filled with lovely, cute, awesome doll, teddybear and doll house stuff!!!!! Most of the stuff was hand made by skilled people.

And these are what we bought! On the right side there are the stuff Riikka bought (real shopping-spree...) and on the left hand side is my stuff (the red spot is a pretty candle).
The thingies in the bags are materials for making mirrors. (I'll take better pictures on a day we have more light....it is sooo pitch dark today).

But this is what I am REALLY happy about:

I found an vintage Lundby doll house from the seventies... with some furniture in there already. This is perfect for tuning!!! And I'm going to do everything myself. I might even create a new blog about it... Perhaps the main language will be Finnish, because many Finns are tuning their Lundbys. But of course I will put in some English, too.

The Mini Club

Have I told you about our Mini Club? In the Mini Club there are several participants: me, Riikka, our mom Outi, my friends Saara and Iines and their moms Susanna and Susan, and sometimes Saara's little sister Niina and Iines' little brother Matias.

Yesterday we had Christmas theme and these are what we did: candles, carlands, wreaths, ornaments in their storage boxes, ginger breads... We had so much fun!

The Christmas Calendar starts today!!

I made a calendar for my dear sister, Riikka. As you can see there are 24 tiny boxes, which Riikka will open one at a time. I have filled every box with something little for her doll house, most of them I have made myself. Some are from the store. The Chistmas calendars are very typical in Finland.

Staircase off, part III

I have been changing the room order in the third floor. First, I thought that I would put the bedroom in this little room and the living-room (family room) in the bigger room, but then I changed it around, like in this picture.

After a while I noticed the living-room was very crowded when the whole family was gathered in there. And here is the picture of the parent's bedroom without the staircase. So much more space! (well, at least a little...)

Michael and Rachelle (the parents) like the new order a lot.

Here are the two rooms in the third floor. I love it...

And the family loves it, too.

Well, this is how the dining room looked like before... As you can see, the staircase took so much space... The room did not have any wallpaper, and the rug was very old. The family did not like it at all.

So, again we took the stairs off... This is the hole what is left after removing the staircase. The wood you can see there is the kitchen cabinets... So, we need to figure out a suitable cover for the hole and do something for the floor.

Here is the new dining-room! The family is very happy about the large room, they could even have more furniture.

I have always hated the stairs in my dollhouse (Sorry, Caitlin!), because they take too much space and they are located in a place that it is really difficult for the dolls to use them.

So, I wanted to take them off, and mommy refused at first to help me with it, but finally she agreed (after all, this is my dollhouse!).

Then I thought that the floor of the kitchen looked very odd, so I wanted to change that also.

And look now at this beautiful new kitchen - I love it!!!!!
And the family does too. Now the family is having a good time in big open-space kitchen.

And another thing popped into my head: I'd like to buy a fridge for the family!

The Elegant Bathroom II

It so happened that Susanna made changes in Mary's House kitchen and then she had extra cabinets. So I thought I could buy them and try them in my dollhouse bathroom. One was enough for my bathroom, so the other went to my sister's dollhouse kitchen. I just love the bathroom now!

The Gazebo!

I bought a gazebo for the kids of the dollhouse, Elisa and Tom and Kirsty. They are very excited about it! Their mom and dad like it very much, too.

The family is enjoying the gazebo with their pets, May, Spike and Cotton. They just love it!

Dollhouse Day!

Yesterday we went to the Season Opening of the Finnish Dollhouse Society.
There were two workshops - one for making a bread basket and one for building a kitchen stool. I will show the pictures later. But it was such a fun to make them! The occasion was held in one doll shop and there were lots to look at and buy.

Or just take with you free of charge, like those floor papers and wooden pieces.

We bought these ministuff, although Riikka got those flowers free of charge when she was hanging around the table persistently enough. When Riikka bought that cute little blue doll bed, she got two miniature coca-cola bottles as a gift. And when I was buying the round piece of knitwork in the middle of the picture, the seller said it was one hundred-years old and it cost only 50 cents!!

I bought these mini printables, the other sheet has those little boxes and cans - and the other sheet has a mini teddy-time calendar. It is going to be so cute!

A Little Visit

Grace and Greta (Riikka's dollhouse owners) came to visit Tom and Elisa. They have had such a fun time playing together. But Elisa got bored and went inside. But then mom asked them to pose for a photo and that made Elisa to peek out from the window. In the picture Greta is playing with Cotton and Spike, May's puppies. And Grace is just resting from all the running around. And Tom is peeking into mom's veggie basket, which she just picked from the garden.

On summer holiday when we were visiting Tallinn, we were looking for dollhouse shops in the old town, we did eventually find one. Not really a dollhouse shop, but a toy/doll shop called Nuku Pood. There I could find some ministuff, these cups and plates. Mom and dad really loved them and I think they are adorable!

I bought this mini dollhouse on my birthday. It looked very plain, just wooden. So I thought I'll tune it a bit. So, here it is!

Well, I thought I'll paint it blue, because my mom had bought for me little paint jars, one white, one blue and one terra color - and I LOVE blue!

Just wanted to show you all the new wallpapers in the dollhouse! I am not happy with the kitchen floor, so it will change, too. Now when I look closely, some of the rooms seem very small, so I am thinking of removing the stairs totally! But my mom is not so sure about it. So, we need to talk more...

Mom and Dad are checking if workmen did well when they were putting the wallpapers on. They especially wanted to check that there were no rumbles or bumbs on the walls. The workmen did a very good job!

If you look carefully enough, you'll see that I have done some painting too on the edges. I thought they looked very plain as such and wanted to give the house some color!

My Birthday!!!!!

Yesterday (31.7.) was my birthday!!! We did so many things that I did not have time to blog about my wonderful day. I got many presents...

... for instance, two great books about dollhouses, one about Finnish dollhouses (Nukkekotielämää) and one was about making miniature food for the dollhouses (Making Miniature Food and Market Stalls)! I also got loads and loads of beads (in the box) and from my sister I got pocket puppies (which are so cute!!!). And then of course I got money from Grandma and from my Godfather. 100 Euros together!!! And from my sister I also got a little sister book, but it doesn't show in the picture...

We went shopping to Indiska, Hobby Point, and Tiimari, because it was my birthday and I had the money! And this is what I bought... two pillows from Indiska, a basket and Fimos from Hobby Point and scrap book thingies and the journal from Tiimari.

And because it was raining cats and dogs - and it was my birthday!!! - the whole family went to see the SIMPSONS MOVIE!!! It was just brilliant and so funny!

Later in the evening my Dad gave me these beautiful flowers - and my Mom and my sister made me this delicious cake with twelve candles on it! I am soo-oo happy!

Relocation of the Dollhouse

Just wanted to tell you that we relocated our dollhouses to the living room to give them enough space. My Mom and Dad were so kind to allow this. Now we have more space in our room, too!

Sorry about the break, but I have loads of good reasons... like we have been doing so much other summer activities and half this time our camera linking cord was missing (so we couldn't move the photos from the camera to the computer...) and we've been setting up Riikka's dollhouse. And summerdays seem to be really short, at least to me!!!

Even though I haven't blogged about my dollhouse, I have been doing something for it! SO, here you see the updated bathroom with wallpapers and all the furniture! I am very pleased with the colors!

The family is enjoying the new bathroom! They have been waiting for it soooo long (sorry!). When we got the bathroom finished, they all wanted to try the bathtub. But Tom got in there first!

Family Picture

The family insisted me to take a family picture in their almost finished bedroom. As you saw in the previous post, the room has a new carpet! Do you like the color combination?

The parents are almost finished with the wallpapers in their room. They ran out of paper, so one of the wall is missing the wallpaper. The parents have been working on the other rooms of the house, too. So, it has been hard on Tom and Eliza to play, and for Kirsty to wander around, because the parents have been painting the trims for the children's bedroom and the dining room. Everything is a mess!

Grandma came to visit...

... and she made for both me and my sister beautiful blue rugs. Then she made lace bedcovers for our dollhouse beds and for me she made cute pot holders. Aren't they fabulous! She is a wonderful grandma!

This is how the blue rug looks under the dining room table. I think it will go together with the blue wallpaper very well - when I get it! Notice, I have put the blue teaset to match the color. Thank you, Grandma Raili!

The Almost Finished Parents' Room

This is the surprise I was telling you about! What do you think? So, we were painting and wallpapering this room. I think we succeeded pretty well! That white paint was left over from Riikka's dollhouse. I painted the living room's trims and the staircase too. I will show the whole picture someday (with the furniture and things).

Well, Hello for the start! We have been doing so much for Riikka's dollhouse. We have been painting ,wallpapering and building it. It is very beautiful and cute. There is already a doll for it. Riikka is thinking to buy a mom and sister for her. OH,NO I should have not said that! Well, any way I have been doing something for my dollhouse too! You will see it in the next post.

Today my sister got her dollhouse from the mail!

She made a blog about it, this is the website. Check it out! Of course, there is not a lot yet, because we only got it today. It is going to be so much fun to put it together!

And the other news is that I am going to change my blog's name to "Laura's Dream Villa", I think. I am thinking it over still. What do you think?

The Fabulous Dining Room

Well, this is our dollhouse fabulous dining room -or almost, because we do not have the wall papers and hard wood floor yet... But still, I think we have all the furniture. And I was thinking of changing the floor mat to a blue one, because the chairs have blue on them. And the wall paper is going to be blue, too. (Blue is my favorite color!)
Next to the big drawer there is another smaller drawer, but you cannot see it in this picture.

Now it is dinner time! Everyone's at the table except for mom bringing the food in the cart. - What's for supper? asked Tom. - Pork chops and boiled beans, replied mom (That's their favorite food!). Everyone's hungry and the dogs are, too. If there will be left-overs, the dogs will get them. But I think there will not be any, because the family loves pork chops, so I guess, the dogs have to take their normal chow.

Riikka's Dollhouse!

My sister Riikka had a birthday today! And she will get a dollhouse. We have to build it ourselves... So, it is gonna be a long project... So we decided to create a new blog for it - from the building to the furnishing. It is going to be so much fun!

The Unfinished Parents' Room

Shhhhh..... mother will be so mad if she knew I took this picture! Because she was just unpacking and then she had to leave to calm down Tom and the puppies raced in when I took this picture...

The picture next to the bed is the mother's grandfather and she has not had time to put the others. She is planning to hang loads of pictures. The rug is made by her grandmother (actually my grandma Raili). The white box is the turtles' box. I have printed out book covers and put cardboard between the covers. But they don't show when I put them in the bookself!

The Brilliant Family Room

The family room is a great place to sit down and relax - or just to read a book. So now the family is relaxing after the big party on the soft couch and chairs. Daddy is having a cup of tea - Tom, don't take Dad's sugar! Mom is very tired after the party, so she is dozing with Kirsty on her lap. Elisa is knitting her pot-holder for mom. The puppies are having so much fun...

Preparing for the Party!

Hey, what are you doing? Ooh, you're preparing for the party tonight (mother just told me). Mother just came from the shop and what does she have in her basket? Cheese, bread and dough for the pastries. Mom is cooking beans and pork chops! Elisa is taking the groceries out of the basket while Tom is taking out the china teapot. Be careful, Tom! I hope Daddy is coming to help, because he barely ever helps. The house mouse is eating cheese (do you see him, he is next to the broom?).

Food for the Family

All these foods I, Laura, made with my friend Saara at her house. This stuff is a sort of clay that you put in the oven to harden.

The single-colored cheeses are just made to their shape, but the multi-colored ones are a bit different. The blue cheese was made out of three colors. First you mix the white and green colors by cutting them into little tiny pieces. Then you mold them into the right shape and put the layer on top of it.

And there you have dollhouse cheese!

I made for mom two baguettes, one loaf of bread, a pie and some pastries.
Mostly they are two-colored.

Now mom will be excited about these cakes and sweet pastries!
(The yellow thingy is butter...).

These two glasses of apple cider are for mom and dad.
We made these in our Monday club along with real gel candles
which were made into vine glasses. We boiled a slimy goo in a kettle and poured it
into the glasses, but in the big ones we inserted a candlewick.

Saara and her mom kindly made these for me when I was visiting them.
Her mother made me the pork chops (don't their look real!) and Saara made the pastries.

The Elegant Bathroom

Mom loves this bathroom, because she keeps her perfumes there. She loves the way the bathtub is placed in the corner. She likes the light green color!

She would like to have tiles on the floor and the walls. Well, let's think about it, mom!

This is mom's shelf , where she keeps her perfume collection.

We, me and my sister, made the perfumes for mom. They are easily made, you just need beads and glue. For the bottle you need a bigger bead and for the cork a smaller - and you just glue them together. Mom was thrilled - and our mom was too!

Self-Made Stuff with Iines

I made these little bags when I was at my friend's Iines' house. First you cut the model of the little bag out of paper. Then you glue the cloth on and fold the the whole thing up. After that you glue the sides. When you have folded up the bag, you sew a string on the other end of the bag and put the beads on and sew the other end of the string.

And there you have a bag!

When I was at Iines' birthday party, we made things out of clay. So I thought I could make little items for my dollhouse. I made a cake, fruits and a small jewelry box for the mom. And you yourself can make anything for your dollhouse out of clay!

Adorable Stuff

These items are from fairy sets which we got from our friends Alex and Sydney, when we were leaving Boulder for Helsinki. They are perfect size for our doll house, thank you, Alex and Sydney!

These paper items I printed out from Jim's Printables from the web. From this web site you can find all sorts of printable stuff for your doll house!

These beautiful desserts our Mom brought from Basel, Switzerland, where she was on a business trip. She visited the Puppenhaus Museum, which was a great place, she told us.

I, Laura, made these donuts in a clay workshop which I attend every Wednesday. I also made the card box out of paper, it is like a small box and you can print the layout from Jim's Printables.

Our Grandma Raili made us rugs and pot-holders. Unfortunately, the pot-holders were a bit too big, so we use them for dog mats. Well, she can surely knit us smaller ones!

The Perfect Kitchen!

This is our doll house kitchen. We got the furniture from our Grandma Greta as a Christmas present. She also gave us a china set. This is a modern kitchen, because it has an island, an electric stove and a hood. Everything is perfect, but where is the mother to cook the delicious food?

While mom is cooking the dinner, Tom is trying to sneak for the donuts, which are on the island. Cotton is helping him! Elisa is helping mom set the table by taking the forks and knives out of the drawer. "What is for dinner?" the father calls from the dining room. Spike is playing in the basket while waiting for their food. "Hurry up, mother, everyone is hungry!".

The Lovely Family!

In our family there are father, mother, big sister named Elisa, brother Tom and baby Kirsty. Father owns a bakery and mother is an artisan, who works in her own handworkshop. Elisa is 6 years old, Tom 4 years old and baby Kirsty 6 months. Elisa and Tom share a room, while baby Kirsty sleeps in the parent's room.

Pets, pets and more pets!

The family is in love with pets, they just love pets! Especially dogs. As you see in the picture there are seven dogs, two turtles and one cat. The mom dog is May and her little puppies are Spike and Cotton. The four other dogs are Ronnie, Pepper, Spot and Mint. Cat's name is Cinder. Turtles' names are Squart and Nert. They are twins.

Inside the doll house

This is how you open our doll house. You can lift up the roof as you can see from the picture and open the front walls like a door. The house has three levels and altogether six rooms. Currently the rooms are kitchen, bathroom, dining room, children's bedroom, parent's bedroom and a small living room.

I thought I'd never see the day when me and my sister got a doll house. But last summer it happened. We got a doll house!! Pretty big with six rooms and we are gradually furnishing it. In this blog we are going to tell you what we have done to our doll house and what we are going to do.
